Tales of Anime: The Novel!
April 6-8, 2007

...Day 1: "We have HOW many people?!"
I’m not really a social person by nature. I like my space, my privacy, and my alone time. So when I heard that I would be staying in a room with three other people I never met before (and two beds), I wasn’t particularly thrilled. But oh well, if that gets me close to Reuben, so be it. Upon arrival, I was informed that it would not be just three other people, but four other people. Hrm, alrightee. Then we had to house a random friend and Davidicus the cameraman, snowballing to a grand total of seven people including myself... in the same room..... yikes! O.o;;

Overall, it didn’t turn out too bad. We were all bound together by Devil May Cry fandom and common nerdy-ness. Most of them were great people and we had an awesome time! I was actually staying with what would be considered a press crew. We had CaT (the webmistress of Devil’s Lair), Dreamer (of Sons of Sparda), and at least three video cameras intended for hours of event footage. CaT had opportunities to interview Reuben and Dan, so it felt really nice to have some input on what questions would be asked.

Now all I had to do was pick up my Tales of Anime badge! The badges had one of three possible pictures on them: Dante, Vergil, or Nero. Since I pre-registered, my name was already printed on a randomly assigned badge. Guess which one I got! That’s right, Nero.

Nero badge

ARGH!! I was pissed!! Guess I didn’t make peace with Nero as much as I thought. I tried convincing people to switch badges with me, like “Hi, Carla! How would you like to be ‘Neiru 2012’ for the rest of the Con?” but it wasn’t working. Davidicus did agree to switch with me, but it was a male name, and I was afraid security might think I stole it and throw me out if they paid any attention.
