Defteros had always been
Aspros' shadow instead of a distict person. He believed in his
twin's promises that one day they could stand side by side as
equals. But when evil ambitions crept into Aspros' thoughts, and
he enslaved Defteros' mind to get him to assassinate the Pope,
their relationship fell apart and Aspros was forced to kill
himself. Years later, Defteros forged an identity of his own and
donned the gold armor of Gemini in his brother's stead, while
Aspros put on the dark surplice armor of Hades. Their meeting on
the battlefield was one of cosmic proportions, as Galactic
Explosion was pitted against Galactic Explosion in a shower of
starlight whose power washed away the evil from Aspros' heart. |

Dohko is sent on a mission
to use Athena's blood to restore her sacred cloth, but four
Specters stand in his way. Gordon forces him to pull out one of
Libra's swords. Dohko also ditches his breastplate. Why?
Who
knows? But it allows Alraune to slice a deep gash across his
torso and disorient him long enough to destroy Athena's blood
vial. Thankfully he still had some of it left in his own body.
Next up is Sylphid of the poison wind, who Dohko
lovingly hugs
to death. By the time Kagaho shows up, Dohko is barely a stain
on the ground, and the Specter crucifies him on Athena's statue
to feed the revival of the cloth.

When Ikki draws a line in
the sand and tells you that you'll die if you cross it, it's
best to listen, even if you are two Silver Saints and he's "just
a Bronze" (famous last words). Capella is the first to not heed Ikki's advice and
immediately gets paralyzed by the Genma Ken. Dante steps in and
tries to attack Ikki with a barrage of spiked balls, but Ikki
repels them all and hits him with an uppercut which would more
accurately be called a home run. Meanwhile, Capella recovers and
launches a discus that lops off Ikki's head. Or does it?
Hoshit the body's still moving!! The returning discus also
multiplied itself and shredded Capella into mincemeat. And this,
kids, is why you should listen when Ikki tells you not to do
something. |

Ikki's dramatic entrance
to the underworld takes the three Judges of Hell by surprise.
They are even more surprised when he offers to fight them all on
the spot. Aiacos steps up to the challenge, and quickly learns
that he underestimated Ikki when the Bronze Saint blows off his
helmet. Fighting more seriously, Aiacos gains the upper hand,
and gets arrogant enough to start drawing X's in the ground in
anticipation of Ikki's death. But a Phoenix doesn't die easily,
and Aiacos made the mistake of demonstrating all his attacks.
Ikki overcomes his enemy's speed and uses the Genma Ken to turn
Aiacos' attack against him, showing him a harrowing vision of
his own demise before finishing him off with the Flying
Phoenix. |

Milo sets high standards
for honor and trust, so when he sees the traitor Kanon in
Athena's chambers, he welcomes him not with open arms but
sharpened claws. He tests the younger Gemini's loyalty by
assailing him with a blitzkrieg of Scarlet Needles. Milo may not
be the strongest of the Golds, but his is the way of a slow and
painful death that would break any man. Despite the immense
arsenal of Gemini powers at his disposal, Kanon accepts Milo's
punishment without resistance - perhaps even with masochistic
zeal - hoping that the searing agony of Scorpio's poison can
kill any remnants of evil and blame inside him. With his final
strike, Milo heals Kanon, and praises him for passing his bloody
initiation into Sainthood. |

Kardia the Scorpion was
not insulted by Rhadamanthys calling him an "bug." Indeed, he
war proud of it, and fully intent on showing this Specter the
pain of his sting. For the longest time Kardia was searching for
an opponent who could ignite his heart, but when he shared this
with Rhadamanthys, the other didn't register how literal that
threat was. Yet Kardia's heart did burn, hotter and hotter,
pumping liquid flame through his body, so that every strike of
his Katakaio Scarlet Needle likewise set Rhadamanthys' blood on
fire and scorched his heart. Of course this was a suicidal
attack, but Kardia's greatest wish was to be able to choose the
time, place, and manner of his death. He was glad it was against
a Judge of Hell. |

Shun was the first to
attempt fighting Mime, but experienced technical difficulties
when his Andromeda chains failed to sense a killing intent from
his opponent. Shun tried to reason with him about this, but Mime
only got insulted at being accused of having no killing intent
and promptly demonstrated to Shun just how violent he could be.
Like clockwork, Ikki showed up to save his little brother, but
frankly he fared no better. Fighting Mime is an
incredibly
disorienting experience. Once Ikki got caught in his harp
strings he was writhing on the ground in time with Mime's
vicious melody just like anyone else. But Ikki still had his
trump card: the Genma Ken mindfuck, which he used to
psychoanalyze Mime into submission. |

Well, this is one of
Milo's fights, so you can bet it'll end
very
very
bloody.
He goes easy on Hyoga at first out of respect for Milo's friend
Camus, who happens to be Hyoga's teacher. But when Hyoga insists
on being treated like a man, Milo acknowledges him as a Saint
and the real bloodbath begins. With the poison from the
scorpion's sting slowly draining his senses, half the time Hyoga
doesn't even know what hit him before he looks down to see
streams of red fluid cascading down his body. Milo says that
Hyoga won the fight because he managed to pelt Milo's armor with
Diamond Dust long enough to freeze his vital points, but lets be
serious here. Milo utterly dominated this battle and could've
ended Hyoga at any time. |

Misty is my mascot for
everything that ever makes one go "LOL WTF" in Saint Seiya.
Though he is beautiful, skilled, and actually rather
intelligent, he has the misfortune of having to fight the main
protagonist of the series. He starts off real strong,
effortlessly blocking Seiya's Ryuseiken and reducing him to
a bloody pulp. Buuut, some of the icky blood got on him, so
Misty naturally
strips
off all his clothing and proceeds to
bathe in
the ocean, admiring himself and claiming to be the most
beautiful thing on the planet besides Athena herself. When Seiya
tells Misty to
put his
clothes back on and fight, Misty does a condescending
hairflip
and laughs. His pride in never having been injured in battle
becomes his downfall. |

Ikki's back from Death
Queen Island. And he's PISSED. The newborn Phoenix is determined
to take out his rage on anyone who reminds him of his past,
starting with his old orphanage buddies. Fire burns, wind blows,
lightning crackles, and rocks explode as the mighty Phoenix
flaps its wings. The other Bronzes didn't have the raw power to
withstand such an overwhelming maelstrom of destruction. Their
only chance to stop Ikki would be a psychological attack - some
sort of tragic flashback perhaps. Plus the virtues of Love and
Friendship!! Yeah, that should do it...

In their effort to secure
a raft to take them across the river, Shiryu and Hyoga attack
the boatman Phlegyas and get knocked out in one hit. Kanon
stares at them, then pushes the raft away from shore. "Aren't
you getting on?" the boatman asks as the raft drifts farther
out. "Yep, right after I defeat you," Kanon replies. What
follows is perhaps the most gratuitous abuse of Galaxian
Explosion in the history of Saint Seiya. And, after blowing up
several solar systems and the boatman along with them, Kanon
gets on the raft and rows away, glancing back at Phlegyas'
mutilated body with this calm psychotic look on his face. Never
has being a badass been more succinct, more uncalled for, or
more satisfying. |
