Prayers
Prayer is the act of talking to the various entities in the universe and/or various aspects of God/dess. It's a lot like normal talking, except you're usually talking to stuff you can't see and could seldom hear it reply. :P With practice, however, you will start to feel the presence of the one you are addressing, and won't have to wonder if it's paying attention to you. Though it helps to vocalize prayer, its power lies in the focus and clarity of your thoughts. It is essentially a form of telepathy which establishes a connection between yourself and another being(s). In all its forms, prayer is the art of projecting your intent to the cosmos. It could be a plea for help, a warning, an affirmation, or a conversation.

Invocations/Evocations
This is a form of prayer used to invite specific entities to join you. Many people either confuse or use interchangeably the terms "Invocation" and "Evocation." I am one of those people. However, I will address this important terminology issue just to make clear that I am not entirely ignorant of the difference between the two.

Invocation
is the act of calling an entity into yourself (such as in the cases of "Drawing Down the Moon" or "Drawing Down the Sun").
Evocation is the act of calling an entity to be with you but not inside you. In some cases of ritual magick, it could mean commanding an entity to be with you or to do you bidding. Since I honor the free will of all beings and seek to work in harmony with them, you'll find none of that here.

So really, the following "invocations" are actually evocations, although they can become invocations depending on the situation.

Invocation to the Elementals & the Seven Directions

Invocation to the Maiden
Invocation to the Son
Invocation to the Wise One
Invocation to the Lord of Death & Rebirth
Invocation to Hermes-Mercury-Tjehuti
Invocation to Venus Aphrodite
Invocation to the Faeries

Opening Prayer

All Gods are one God,
All Goddesses are one Goddess,
The God and the Goddess are one Source.
I live by the cycles of the Sun,
I live by the cycles of the Moon
I live by the cycles of the Earth;
Life, Death, and Rebirth.
I live through the lifepulse of the Source,
By the power of the Force,
By the laws of Free Will and Karma.
I realize that thoughts manifest,
That I set my own patterns from which to learn from,
And that there is a solution for every situation.
I take responsibility for my actions,
Whatever I do comes back to me,
For done to one ripples through all.
I uphold the Sacredness of all Life,
We are all the infinite expressions of the Source.
Though individual truth is relative,
The truth of the whole is absolute.

Fourfold Purification

I purify my BODY of all sickness, disease, illness, and toxins. May it be healthy and strong, healed and whole - a proper temple for the expression of my spirit!

I purify my MIND of all stray thoughts, so that it may be as crisp and clear as a mountain zephyr. May it be receptive to divine guidance, and learn to discern truth from lie. May it be insightful, inspired, and motivated!

I purify my WILL. May it remain strong and steadfast when it has set upon the path of the greater good. May it never waver, but give me the courage to fulfill my destiny to the best of my capabilities and the fullest of my potential!

I purify my EMOTIONS. May they flow as as freely as a rushing woodland stream. May they never stagnate, but express themselves in constructive ways. Help me in matters of joy and intuition.

Invocation to the Elementals & the Seven Directions

I welcome the powers of the NORTH, rulers of Earth, Body, and Winter: Help me in matters of patience, groundedness, and stability. Help me use my power wisely.

I welcome the powers of the EAST, rulers of Air, Mind, and Spring: Help me in matters of wisdom, insight, and clear thought. Help me use my power wisely.

I welcome the powers of the SOUTH, rulers of Fire, Spirit, and Summer: Help me in matters of strength, confidence, and focused will. Help me use my power wisely.

I welcome the powers of the WEST, rulers of Water, Emotion, and Autumn: Help me in matters of healing, joy, and intuition. Help me use my power wisely.

I welcome the powers of the SKY FATHER, rulers of the heavens and all that is in them: Help me in matters of cosmic awareness, unconditional love, and unlimited consciousness. Help me use my power wisely.

I welcome the powers of the EARTH MOTHER, rulers of the Earth and all that is in it: Help me in matters of abundance, harmony, and balance. Help me use my power wisely.

I stand at the CENTER, where all powers intersect. I take my place in the circle of life, and remember to use my power for the good of all. All is one and one is all.

Invocation to the Maiden

Maiden of the waxing moon,
The horns of the crescent both your crown and your bow,
Great Huntress who never misses her mark.
You who are Artemis, Diana, Athena, Hestia, Iris, Lada, Neit, Bast, and countless other names,
I welcome you with an open mind and an open heart!
All the wildwood is your domain and all the animals your kin,
For you are all that is wild and free.
Blessed Maiden, who dances the fallen leaves of autumn into the ground in the spring,
Remind us that though the past fertilizes the present we should not dwell on it,
But rather remember that every moment is a fresh start.
Beautiful one of revitalizing newness,
Freshness follows wherever you step,
Teach us to see with new eyes, be open to new ideas, and never lose our sense of wonder.
Great one who is independent and strong,
Give us the courage to be ourselves and stand up for what we believe in.

Invocation to the Son

Beautiful God,
You who are Jesus, Lugh, Apollo, and Horus!
I welcome you with an open heart and an open mind.
You who are the brilliance of the fiery Sun,
The warmth that nourishes all life,
Whose rays melt away the snow and awaken vitality in the Earth!
Without you we would be lost in darkness,
For you are the Savior of the world,
And bring the hope of a brighter tomorrow!

Invocation to the Wise One

I invoke the Wise One with an open mind and an open heart!
You who are known as Cerridwen, Baba Yaga, Sekhmet, Kali-Ma, Spiderwoman, Nephthys, and countless other names.
You who are the keeper of the Akashic Records,
And possess the knowledge of the ages,
You who are more ancient than the bounds of time,
And guard the secrets herb and stone,
You who stir the Cauldron of Rebirth,
Into which we all pass in death to be cleansed and begin life anew,
You who are the epitome of Karmic Justice,
And wise in the ways of Reincarnation,
You who are the embodiment of the fullness of power,
Though your ways may seem cruel and chaotic to some,
Without your guidance and cleansing all would perish,
Many faces you have that strike fear into the hearts of your children, Dark Mother,
Yet I come to you with my fears and doubts laid bare,
And see you without their blinds for what you truly are,
Beautiful Grandmother!
I welcome you with an open mind and an open heart!

Invocation to the Lord of Death & Rebirth

I invoke the Lord of Death and Rebirth with an open mind and an open heart!
You who are known as Osiris, Jesus, Anubis, Dionysis, and countless other names.
You who are the essence of our very souls,
Who live, die, and are reborn again in all your glory,
You whose counsel is wise and just,
For you teach that our souls are immortal,
You who are the Lord of the Harvest,
Who sacrifices himself so that we may live,
You who drive the Wheel of the Year,
From darkness to light, from barrenness to abundance,
You who are the Hunter and the Hunted,
The heartbeat of field and forest, the waxing and waning of the Sun,
By your drumbeat move the cycles of nature,
Many faces you have that strike fear into the hearts of your children, Lord of the Dead,
Yet through you we learn not to fear death,
For it is your gentle hand and loving embrace that guides us to the Summerland!
I welcome you with an open mind and an open heart!

Invocation to Hermes-Mercury-Tjehuti:

Hail to you, Hermes-Mercury-Tjehuti,
Fleet-footed Messenger of the Gods,
In all your many faces.
Come down from Mount Olympus,
Fly in from the mighty city of Roma,
Rise up from the land of Kemet,
Race across land and sea with your legendary speed,
And come join me this day!

As Hermes you are known as Argophontes,
The Psychopomp who guides souls to the Underworld,
Who, with your wand, bestows and banishes sleep and guides us through dreams,
You whose cleverness and oratory is unmatched,
With honeyed tongue and charm you ease your way through conflict,
Divine trickster extraordinaire,
Patron of learning and the sciences,
Patron of travelers on their journeys,
Of thieves and merchants,
Of wrestlers and magicians.

As Mercury you rule communication and commerce.

As Tjehuti you are the Voice of Ra,
Keeper of the Akashic Records and Karma,
Great one of truth, wisdom, and knowledge,
Great of Magick, Great of Healing.

Hermes-Mercury-Tjehuti, I welcome you with an open mind and an open heart
!

Invocation to Venus Aphrodite

I invoke the Great Goddess
By your name of Venus Aphrodite!
Foam-born maiden of the deep blue sea
Who wields power over the tides of human hearts.
Hail to you mistress of passion and desire,
Whose will neither mortals nor gods could deny.
I welcome you blessed Lady,
Through whom the world knows joy and endures,
Whose influence unites men and women,
And showers the world with love.

Invocation to the Faeries

Lords and Ladies of the Sidhe,
All hail to you and blessed be!
I come in friendship and in peace,
To all ye of the Hollow Hills!
Of emerald glades and sylvan boughs,
And wild dancing in starlit groves!
Of bonfires reaching to the sky,
And revelries 'till dawn draws nigh!
