Equipment.....
Dante has collected an impressive arsenal of lethal tools throughout the games. He is skilled enough to excel at anything he gets his hands on, and likes to show it off... err... test out the weapons upon acquisition. While I usually hate guns, Dante elevates their usage to a beautiful art form that I could admire.

Agni & Rudra ...Agni & Rudra (DMC3)
These are twin serrated blades of wind (Rudra) and flame (Agni) that you get for defeating twin brothers of the same names. They are very balanced weapons, with good speed, decent damage, intuitive combos, and excellent crowd control. They are my favorites because I am a big fan of dual wield.
Alastor ...Alastor (DMC1)
A lightning blade that leaps out at you from a statue of the Judge of Death very early in the first game. My favorite weapon from the first game, it is fast, highly versatile, and allows you to fly when Devil Triggered. It carries the invaluable Stinger attack - a most efficient way of closing in on an enemy.
Amulet ...Amulet
Sparda's red amulet given to Dante by his beloved mother shortly before she died, Dante always carries it with him on a chain around his neck. It is actually one of two halves, the other half being kept by his twin brother Vergil. When put together, it serves as part of a key to open the gate to Hell, as well as awakening the true potential of Sparda's sword Force Edge. As such, many who seek the powers of Hell come looking for it, but find that it is well guarded.
Artemis ...Artemis (DMC3)
A kind of demonic bow earned by passing all three trials in mission 6. It shoots violet energy arrows but can only be fired while standing on the ground.
Beowulf ...Beowulf (DMC3)
The most powerful weapons in the third game, received several missions after defeating their owner of the same name. Though the gauntlets/greaves dish out high damage, they are slow and can only be used at point blank range. They are horrible at crowd control, but very strong in one-on-one fights against bosses and arachne.
Cerberus ...Cerberus (DMC3)
The fastest weapon in the third game, these three-pronged ice nunchaku are received after defeating the three-headed dog of the same name. They are great crowd control, and fast enough to interrupt most attacks.
...Coyote A (DMC4)
This is Dante's default shotgun for single powerful blasts.
Ebony & Ivory ...Ebony & Ivory (DMC1, 2, 3, 4)
These are Dante's trademark semi-automatic .45 handguns, custom made by Nell Goldstein as her final masterpieces for Dante to assemble before she and her shop went up in flames. They were designed to complement each other, right hand's Ivory was best for unhindered rapid-fire action while left hand's Ebony was best for more precise shots. They resemble Sparda's personal handguns: Luce & Ombra. Extremely versatile guns able to shoot on the ground or in the air as fast as you can pump the button. Especially useful for slowing your fall while airborne, buying you more time to avoid any dangers below. By far my favorite guns.
Force Edge/Sparda ...Force Edge/Sparda (DMC1, 3, 4)
The sword Sparda used to defeat Mundus and seal the gateway to the demon world. It normally appears in its dormant state of an unassuming long-sword, its true form is that of a huge, shape-shifting two-handed halberd/cleaver-type-thing. Very powerful.
Gilgamesh ...Gilgamesh (DMC4)
These earth-shattering gauntlets and boots pack a powerful punch in close combat!
...Grenadegun (DMC1)
A heavy, relatively short range weapon with a bad recoil that can only be fired while on the ground, but can hit several enemies at once.
Ifrit ...Ifrit (DMC1)
Gauntlets of fire received in the middle of the first game. They are slower than Alastor and shorter range, but pack a much stronger punch and their moves can be charged up for added power. Ideal for taking out more powerful enemies, especially plasma beings who are immune to Alastor's attacks.
Kalina Ann ...Kalina Ann (DMC3)
My second favorite gun, this beauty is given to you by Lady. It has a powerful recoil and can only be fired standing on the ground, but it hits multiple enemies at once and is absolutely indispensable in the fight against Arkham. With Gunslinger style active, you can utilize some of this gun's more creative aspects, such as homing rockets and harpoons.
...Luce & Ombra (DMC1)
Sparda's personal handguns that you use when playing as him in DMC1. Work much like Ebony & Ivory.
Lucifer ...Lucifer (DMC4)
Wing-like blades that Dante dual wields against opponents. In addition to inflicting slashing damage, they also impale enemies with explosive knives. Dante carries a rose in his mouth when using Lucifer, in what is possibly the most adorable weapon concept of all time!
...Merciless (DMC2)
This blade is found in the Temple of the Arcana, and is longer and thinner than other weapons of the second game. Though it does not deal high damage, it makes up for it with its exceptional range.
...Missile Launcher (DMC2)
A powerful gun that can only be fired while standing on the ground. It releases missiles that cause much damage to the target and those near it, often knocking surrounding enemies to the ground.

...Needlegun (DMC1)
The only gun that works underwater (and only underwater), it is of great help in the first game's aquatic areas.

Nevan ...Nevan (DMC3)
A bizarre guitar-axe acquired from a demonic opera singer of the same name, it certainly makes for a highly unconventional experience of the game. Its musical attacks shoot forth electric bats that can damage many enemies within range.
...Nightmare-beta (DMC1)
The gun that not only utilizes your hand but eats it too! It fires ricocheting plasma shots, powering them by consuming Dante's Devil Trigger gauge. Unfortunately, when all the gauges are gone, it becomes very weak.
Pandora ...Pandora (DMC4)
Pandora's Box looks like a suitcase, but don't be fooled! This is a weapon of 666 different forms, at least 7 of which Dante can access in the game. It comes with a Disaster Gauge that works hand in hand with Gunslinger style to unleash unspeakable havoc upon enemies. Pandora is indisputably the most powerful gun in all of the DMC world.
Rebellion ...Rebellion (DMC1, 2, 3, 4)
A sword given to Dante by his father, it is a well balanced weapon with medium range and swift attacks, including Dante's favored Stinger attack which is very useful when charging enemies. It spoke to Dante when he was a boy and advised him to hide his true identity, and itself fell asleep. When the sword re-awakened from Dante's blood during the third game, the devil design on its hilt opened its mouth revealing fangs.
Shotgun ...Shotgun (DMC1, 2, 3)
A versatile weapon that has the potential to damage several nearby enemies at once and even knock them down. It is very useful in crowd control and does decent damage.
Spiral ...Spiral (DMC3)
This gun's already massive damage output can be increased to lethal sniping capacity with the use of the Gunslinger style. However, it can only be fired while standing on the ground.
...Submachine Guns (DMC2)
Compact weapons that specialize in accuracy over speed and best against single targets.
...Vendetta (DMC2)
A large, slow, but powerful halberd found in the Power Plant that works best against equally large, slow, and powerful creatures.
Yamato ...Yamato (DMC1, 3:SE, 4)
Though originally one of Sparda's weapons, Yamato has become Vergil's trademark katana in DMC3, although Dante gets his hands on it briefly when they trade weapons during their battle with Arkham. Otherwise, it can be played through Vergil in the Special Edition of DMC3. A beautiful sword with harsh strokes and long recovery times, it makes for excellent crowd control. It is so awesome, that in the first two hits of its standard combo, Vergil does not even take it out of the sheath! But it takes great skill to use effectively, lest you find yourself dramatically sailing past opponents (or off lifts) and slashing thin air while they pummel you from the rear. It is also wielded by Sparda's playable character in DMC1.
