Devil May Cry 3/SE Bosses.....

First thing's first, frantic button-mashing might get you through the rest of the game, but there is no way in HELL (no pun intended) you're getting past the bosses without some sort of strategy. My personal style of combat relies heavily on mobility, so I will have a definite bias in my descriptions.

Golden Rule of DMC3 Boss Strategy:
evade and counter. All other circumstances aside, there will always be a pattern of attack and recovery from the attack. You can use the delay between one missed attack and the next one to strike back at your opponent.

Devil May Cry 4 Bosses.....
If you've survived the mighty denizens of DMC3, these should be a breeze.
But don't let your guard down or they WILL bite! Also unlike DMC3, you get to
fight most of these over and over again. It gets real repetitive real fast.
Oh well, at least fighting Dante never gets old!

from the attack.* You can use the delay between one missed attack and the

Devil May Cry 3/SE Styles.....

There are six playing styles to choose from that affect your experience in the game. They enhance a certain aspect of Dante's skills, and often add new moves to choose from. You start out with four main ones (Trickster, Swordmaster, Gunslinger, Royal Guard) that have 3 Levels to progress in each, and acquire the last two (Quicksilver, Doppelganger) later on in the game which do not progress in Level. The Darkslayer style was added with the Special Edition of Devil May Cry 3, gains levels, and is Vergil-only.

...Trickster
My favorite style, it enhances Dante's mobility on the land and in the air, making hard to reach places easier to access. It is defensive in nature, focusing on swiftness and evasion. With it you can run up walls, cover ground faster with dashes, direct your movement while airborne, and even teleport next to enemies. Often you can string together two or more of these maneuvers for a dizzying display of skill.

...Swordmaster
This style enhances the effectiveness of the close combat weapons (Devil Arms), adding an impressive arsenal of extra attacks for every weapon. The highest level attacks are a wonder to behold, and wreak apocalyptic havoc on your enemies. It is also useful to switch to this style when dealing with God of War statues, because the greater variety in attacks make it easier to raise the combo meter.

...Gunslinger
This style enhances the effectiveness of Dante's range weapons (guns), making creative use of their unique properties. Often it adds more powerful shots and attacks that hit multiple enemies at once. My least favorite style as I prefer close combat.

...Royal Guard
The favored style of advanced players, utilizing its abilities is like playing a whole different game. It grants you the ability to block attacks, and release the kinetic energy you absorb through counter attacks. It is always fun to watch somebody going head to head with Beowulf, blocking his massive swings with skillful timing. In fact, it lets you block any damage whatsoever, even environmental damage from spikes and such. At the highest level, it allows you to create a forcefield that regenerates your health bar.

...Quicksilver
You receive this style for defeating Geryon in mission 12. In exchange for draining your Devil Trigger, it allows you to slow down time, letting you dish out a flurry of attacks on creatures moving so slow they're usually dead before they know what hit them. This typically only lasts for a few seconds, but if you don the Super Dante alternate costume that grants you infinite Devil Trigger, you enter what I call "God Mode" and could stay in Quicksilver mode indefinitely. Not only does this make the game insanely easy, it is a great way to observe enemy attacks and patterns in safe slow motion.

...Doppelganger
You receive this style for defeating your Doppelganger in mission 17. In exchange for draining your Devil Trigger, it allows you to spawn a shadow clone of yourself that replicates your moves, doing twice the damage. If you're using the Super Dante alternate costume, you can be in Doppelganger mode indefinitely. This lets you play the game in a kind of "2-Player Mode," because the second controller could be used to control the clone. The camera always follows the main player, however, so it can get rather frustrating.

...Darkslayer (SE)
Vergil's only style in the game, it is very similar to Dante's evasive Trickster style but relies purely on teleportation. It does give you considerably more control of teleports than Dante's version, allowing you the option to teleport right next to enemies, directly above where you're standing, or directly below where you're standing.
