I love fighting Nevan, it is like being part of a beautifully choreographed waltz. The number of attacks she has may seem overwhelming at first, but you will soon catch on that all of them have advance warnings, most of which are consistent phrases. She is protect by a pillar of bats that she uses to teleport across the room, and invulnerable so long as they surround her. Cut through the bats every chance you get, and when she is left helpless, Devil Trigger and attack her until a darkness begins to grow beneath her. Be ready to jump away because when her eyes start to glow red and she utters "Are you ready," she swallows everything around her in a damaging darkness. She will then regenerate the bats and you will have to start over. It is also very important to leave at least three circles of the devil gauge up at all times, since sometimes Nevan will willingly drop her bat shield and come after you. You can interrupt her with a well timed attack, but if she manages to catch you, she will start draining your life and replenishing her own. Only Devil Triggering will be able to save you from her Vampiric Embrace. |

"Get ready... sugar" (Twirl): Nevan twirls around,
creating a kinetic barrier that damages anything that comes close. It's
very painful to be caught in when you're close to her. Keep your
distance and shoot her while she twirls, then rush her and slash at her
when she stops. "How's this?" (Lightning Bats): Nevan hurls electrically charged bats at Dante. Jump away from them. "Now you will become tired" (Lightning Pillars): pillars of lightning shoot up from where Dante is standing. You can easily outrun them. "Are you enjoying yourself?" (Lightning Fence): Nevan stands at a far end of the room and summons an electric fence that glides towards Dante. It does not shift aim once it starts moving and it moves relatively slow, making it very easy to avoid if you run in a perpendicular direction. She usually casts several of these one after the other. Swallowing Darkness ("Are you ready?"): when you kill all the bats surrounding Nevan and get her vulnerable, you will have a short window in which to damage her. A darkness will start growing under her feet, and when it reaches a certain point, she will say "are you ready?" right as her eyes glow red and she damages everything the vicinity. Jump away before she can hurt you. Darkness Spikes: Nevan flips forward and sends spiking waves of black miasma at Dante. Sidestep around them and attack her from behind. Electric Floor: the floor crackles with electricity as warning that in a second it will become fully charged with lightning. Double jump and shoot Ebony & Ivory to stay in the air while the danger subsides. Vampiric Embrace: you will hear a sound like strung wire as Nevan willingly drops her cloud of bats and glides towards Dante. You can slash her to interrupt her, but if she manages to catch you, she will drain your life in order to replenish her own. Only Devil Triggering can break you free, so make sure to always leave enough in the devil gauge to allow you to transform. Once you interrupt her one way or another, attack her as if you just killed all her bats. back to bosses list back to DMC page
