Saints of Scorpio
The Scorpio Saints are ruthless and
fierce, with a gaze that strikes terror into their prey.
Because, above all, they are hunters, with a bloodlust that
ranges from practical to psychotic. Their attacks are swift and
precise, up close and personal, assuring a slow and agonizing
death. Milo is the Scorpio Saint of modern times in the original
Saint Seiya, while Kardia is the Scorpio Saint of the 18th
century in Lost Canvas.
... |
|
.
Scorpio Milo
Milo's battle cry is "surrender or die,"
and
his enemies would be wise to choose the former,
because he is a merciless, sadistic fighter who loves to
bleed people dry. His venomous stings inflict unimaginable
pain enough to drive lesser beings insane. He strikes
first and |
|
asks questions later, which at times results in him
torturing the
wrong person. But it can also be said that he does not
care who |
|
he's attacking, since he certainly enjoys the violence of it
all.
...
However, Milo is far from being a dumb brute. He's a
proud |
|
and noble warrior in his own special way. Although he's
been |
|
known to let victims go out of respect for a friend, ultimately,
his
concept of honor involves not holding back on an opponent. This
is
shown in his treatment of Cygnus Hyoga when Milo accepts him
as a man. Likewise, Milo is very fair, and isn't afraid to admit
defeat or give praise. When traitor Gemini Kanon returns
to Sanctuary, Milo puts him through an agonizing trial
to test his loyalty before acknowledging him as
a fellow Gold Saint. Once his friendship
is earned he is a powerful ally.

Scorpio Kardia
Kardia was born with a heart that
produced
heat beyond temperatures humans could withstand.
He suffered from terrible fevers, but the technique he
used to keep them under control was slowly killing him.
He |
|
knew he wouldn't live
long, but at least he could choose the |
|
time, place, and means
of his death. Since he had no future, |
|
he lived for the present
moment and reveled in the thrill of |
|
battle. His greatest
wish was to fight an enemy who could
ignite his heart so he could go out with a bang. That's
why |
|
he joined Aquarius Degel
on his mission to negotiate with |
|
Poseidon, for what
bigger prey was there than a god? |
|
Kardia was not
disappointed by his decision, since |
|
it fated him to cross
paths with 1 of the 3 Judges |
|
of the Underworld,
Wyvren Rhadamanthys. He
could hardly contain his bloodlust, and when |
|
he told Rhadamanthys
that his heart was on fire, the |
|
Judge realized too late
that he meant literally. In |
|
his final attack, Kardia
released the flames in |
his heart, consuming them both in a
passionate blaze of glory.

Scorpio Techniques |
|
Restriction
Scorpio's eyes turn orange and he shoots
circular waves at his opponent, causing paralysis. It feels like
a scorpion staring down its prey. |
|
Scarlet Needle
This is Scorpio's signature attack. A
blood-red nail grows out of his right index finger to act as a
stinger, then crimson Cosmo energy gathers around the nail and
shoots out as a poisonous needle of energy at his opponent. |
|
Multiple Scarlet Needles*
Scorpio can shoot these needles one at a
time or several simultaneously. Each needle corresponding to a
star in the Scorpius constellation. As the poison from the
stings spreads, it attacks the central nervous system, causing unbearable pain and gradual loss of
the senses, so much so that most victims go insane or die before the attack
can be completed. Scorpio usually gives his opponent the choice
between surrender or death, but nobody ever listens! |
|
Scarlet Needle Antares
There are 14 regular hits of the Scarlet
Needle, and their carefully aimed stings trace out the pattern
of stars in the Scorpius constellation on the opponent's body.
The 15th and final sting corresponds to Antares, the red
supergiant at the heart of Scorpius, and is aimed at the center
of the target's torso. Death is inevitable after being pierced
by this attack, and the opponent is left to die in a
free-flowing pool of their own blood. |
|
Stop Bloodflow*
Scorpio is able to reverse the effects of
Scarlet Needle, and even of its deathblow Antares, by pressing a
key point on the body that stops the massive blood loss. |
|
Katakaio
Scarlet Needle
(Blazing Scarlet Needle)
This is an attack unique to Kardia,
activated when his heart burns as literal flames. It draws on
the heat and shoots it into his opponent's bloodstream, setting
it on fire. Kardia is able to use this attack with either hand,
but claims that it is more powerful using the left hand which is
closer to the heart. |
|
Katakaio
Antares
(Blazing Antares)
As the heat in his body rises, so does
Karia's Cosmo. After the 14 preliminary strikes of the Katakaio
Scarlet Needle, he performs the culmination of his attack,
represented by the star Antares. This 15th strike triggers his
target's heart to be consumed in Scorpio's flames. Katakaio
Antares can't be used twice, since Kardia burns up his entire
life force in its execution. |

Athena Exclamation
The honor code of the Saints dictates that
all battles must be one on one, but Athena Exclamation can only
be performed by three Saints. It has the force of the Big Bang,
and is so overpowered that Athena herself had it banned.
However, Saints have been known to use it under extreme
circumstances. |
|
|
Sunlight*
The Zodiac constellations have long bathed
in the light of the Sun, and the Gold armors that represent them
have absorbed an infinite amount of sunlight. To perform this
incredible blast of energy, all the Gold Saints focus their
Cosmo into the tip of Sagittarius' arrow, thereby fusing their
powers as one. |
|
|
This attack was
used to break through the Wailing Wall by bringing the full
intensity of a star into the darkest depths of Hell. Although it
is said that Athena Exclamation has the force of the Big Bang,
Supernova is undoubtedly more powerful, since it utilizes the
combined strength of twelve Gold Saints instead of three. It
instantly disintegrates everything in its vicinity, including
those who cast it, and sends waves of devastation rippling
outwards. |
