Though Harvey is officially the ships Comms Officer, he is actually
the most well-rounded member of the crew, being a highly capable
Pilot, Navigator, and Mechanic. This makes him Second in Command.
At least in theory. In practice? Not so much. He is easily disoriented
and tends to ask others what to do instead of giving orders. You get
the sense that the rest of the team doesn't take his authority too
seriously. But there is a reason for his apparent incompetence: he misses
his wife too much and every decision he makes is clouded by fear of
never seeing her again. He is the most religious member of the crew and,
ironically, the one most afraid of death.
